ALMERE, Netherlands – German adult entertainment conglomerate Beate Uhse AG has sold its Dutch distribution arm, Scala Playhouse, to Walter Kroes and Trudy Pijnacker, owners of erotic lingerie e-tailer Leg Avenue. Financial details were not disclosed.

The new owners have changed the company’s name to simply SCALA and plan to install a new management team. Rank-and-file staff will remain the same, and the company’s role as an international wholesale distributor will not change, according to a statement about the transition. The company’s offices and warehouse, however, will move to a new facility.

The new owners said they plan to invest in upgrades to the company’s online infrastructure, stock availability and product development. Merchandise will comprise primarily toys, lingerie and drugstore-category items; film and DVD products have been discontinued.

SCALA Fair will take place Sept. 3-4 as previously planned, and the company plans to have a presence at EroFame, Oct. 11-13 in Hanover, Germany.
