CANOGA PARK, Calif. – The adult content production moratorium that began Aug. 20 after a performer tested positive for HIV was lifted late Tuesday evening, adult industry trade association Free Speech Coalition said.
According to a spokesperson for adult industry health and safety watchdog Performer Availability Screening Services, a panel of three medical doctors reviewed the health-test results for all at-risk performers and determined two things:
- All performers who worked with the HIV-positive performer tested “clean” post-exposure.
- It is safe for performers who received a clean bill of health on or after Aug. 19 to return to work, as the Aptima HIV test that is part of the adult industry’s standard screening panel would have detected infection passed along prior to July 31, the date on which the infected performer performed in her most recent scene.
The FSC added two conditions to its recommendation the moratorium be lifted:
- All test panels administered prior to Aug. 19 are considered expired for the purpose of determining performer availability.
- Producers should ensure performers they wish to employ were tested on or after Aug. 19.
The PASS Medical Advisory Council plans to meet later this week to consider shortening the recommended maximum period between health screenings from 28 days to 14 days.
