ASACP Names Epoch, CAM4 as June’s Featured Sponsors

Los Angeles, CA — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is pleased to announce Epoch and CAM4 as its Featured Sponsors for June 2019.

ASACP’s Executive Director Tim Henning said the association’s Featured Sponsors, such as Epoch and CAM4, rank among the industry’s most highly-respected companies, serving as prime examples of how proactive corporate responsibility and ethical operation can make a significant difference in protecting at-risk youth online.

“By sponsoring ASACP, the industry’s most prominent players prove that legal adult entertainment and digital media businesses are capable of ‘doing the right thing’ when it comes to preventing children from accessing adult-oriented materials,” Henning explained.

“ASACP is proud to honor its monthly selection of companies that have demonstrated a commitment to online child protection, encouraging other companies to take a leadership role in keeping children out of and away from adult entertainment,” he added.

The association makes tremendous use of the support it receives from its sponsor community to continue its 23-year record of success. This includes notable achievements such as its Child Exploitation Tipline, which has processed more than 1 million reports to-date. ASACP’s educational, informational and inspirational resources for digital media companies provide market-specific Best Practices and a universal Code of Ethics for businesses, app and website operators.

ASACP’s Restricted To Adults (RTA) meta label helps parents by preventing their children’s access to billions of adult-oriented webpages and mobile apps. The RTA tag is offered to all site and app publishers free of charge, as are all ASACP services, thanks to the generosity of the nonprofit association’s sponsors and members.

For June, ASACP honors Epoch and CAM4 as its Featured Sponsors, recognizing these companies’ continued support of the association and their continuing commitment to making the internet safer for children and families.

“ASACP’s Featured Sponsors highlight the diversity of support the association receives across all adult-oriented business segments,” Henning said. “The generous contributions by leading companies such as Epoch and CAM4 is what enables ASACP’s continued positive achievements in improving the daily digital lives of today’s constantly connected youth.”

Epoch

A founding Platinum Sponsor that has supported ASACP for more than 15 years, Epoch is an Internet Payment Services Provider. It enables merchants to process transactions online and through mobile devices, accepting global payments for digital products and services, while earning a reputation for legitimacy and oversight of client web properties in the process.

Epoch takes an active, two-pronged approach to child protection. First, Epoch ensures that its services are not used by illegal websites selling materials depicting underage performers. Second, the organization provides dedicated service to the association’s Advisory Committee, which helps set the responsible standards and practices for legitimate adult entertainment and other companies. Epoch also provides the boardroom facilities for ASACP meetings, as well as other tangible assets.

Epoch’s responsible corporate philosophy puts people (including children) first, exemplifying the type of industry-leading company that makes up ASACP’s most valued sponsors.

CAM4

An ASACP Title Sponsor whose support extends back to 2011, CAM4 is vigilant about online child protection, due to its operation of live webcam/video chat sites. Minors attempt to access these sites and, by misrepresenting their age, attempt to become paid performers. The global nature of this business (with varying documentation in different jurisdictions) and the physical separation between the company and its contractors make it a daunting proposition to ensure that performers, let alone viewers, are of legal age.

Because of these challenges, ASACP offers a stringent set of Best Practices tailored to the specific needs of live cam site operators, which CAM4 benefits from. CAM4 takes additional measures such as the use of the RTA label to block children from its site.

These steps also include a warning page overlay that notifies viewers that no CP is present on the site and that anyone posting or seeking underage material would be reported to authorities, with the company aiding in the prosecution of these users — sending a clear message that it will not tolerate children accessing or being displayed on the CAM4 site.
