Applications Now Open for BIPOC-AIC’s Microgrant Program

BIPOC-AICOn September 1, 2020, the BIPOC-AIC launched the application for its new microgrant program to provide relief to BIPOC Adult Industry performers and content creators affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) or in financial need for any reason.

While the CARES Act made provisions for gig workers and others previously unable to qualify for unemployment benefits, it excluded sex workers and those working online. Following the lead of other sex worker-led organizations, the BIPOC-AIC’s Microgrant Program supports BIPOC performers and content creators who have worked in NSFW media of any kind with its microgrant program.

“When we launched BIPOC-AIC, we engaged conversations surrounding the possibility of a strike to address on-going issues of racism in the industry, but acknowledged striking is a privilege not everyone has, especially during such in such extraordinary times,” said Sinnamon Love. “From the very beginning, it was imperative for us to support one another during this public health crisis to make sure our community is safe & provided for.”

To date, the BIPOC-AIC has raised $6100, allowing them to offer 3 – $500 microgrants per month from September – November while simultaneously running its Wellness and Education programs. The application period runs from September 1 through 10, with grants paid on September 15. Grants do not require repayment. Applicants who are not selected to receive assistance in a given month will automatically be entered into the following month’s grant cycle. BIPOC-AIC is continuing to accept donations for its mutual aid fund to extend its microgrants program. Donations can be made via GoFundMe.

Applications and information on the BIPOC-AIC Microgrant Program are located at BIPOC-Collective.org.
