New on Adult Site Broker Talk: Ricci Levy of Woodhull Freedom Foundation
PATTAYA, Thailand – This week’s guest on the Adult Site Broker Talk podcast is Ricci Levy, President and CEO of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, an organization that advocates for sexual freedom being considered a fundamental human right.
“Ricci Levy has spent decades at the forefront of advocacy for sexual freedom,” the announcement from Adult Site Broker Talk noted. “In 2003, she played a key role in launching the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the autonomy and rights of all people.”
In her earlier role as Executive Director and later as President and CEO, Levy “has provided vision and leadership to Woodhull for over twenty years,” the announcement added.
Ricci has appeared before legislatures and at conferences nationwide, addressing “controversial subjects in ways that inspire constructive dialogue and meaningful partnerships,” the announcement noted, adding that “from censorship and sex work decriminalization to ending the shackling of pregnant women in prison and advancing reproductive and family rights, Ricci has remained a powerful champion for human rights.”
Levy’s other affiliations over the years have included the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, the Sexuality and Aging Consortium at Widener University, the US Human Rights Network, the Free Expression Network, and the Council on Contemporary Families. She currently serves on the Steering Committee of the Free Expression Network.
“It was great to finally get Ricci back on the podcast,” said Bruce the adult site broker, host of the show and CEO of Adult Site Broker. “She is a real hero to me in the area of protecting sexual freedom.”
In the interview, Levy warned that when it comes to eroding the rights of a country’s citizens, “censorship is the first line of attack.”
“It’s always been the first line of attack,” Levy said. “If you look back at, well, let’s just go back to Nazi Germany. What was the first action? It was censorship. And if you remove access to the truth, then you get to claim the dialogue. Any speech that’s censored becomes government speech. And that means all of our rights are in danger… we’re all affected by everything that’s going on, even if we don’t see it immediately, even if we don’t make the connection.”
