YNOT – Mainstream virtual pinboards are in their infancy; adult pinboards even more so. Across the spectrum the sites are popular with end-users, though the jury remains out about how effective pinboards are as marketing tools. Some analysts believe the visual nature of the medium makes them perfect for marketing products that are inherently visual, while other analysts believe the boards are little more than a fad.
Pinboards have found fans among those who enjoy adult entertainment, likely because porn is primarily a visual medium. The trick to increasing the marketing reach of pinboards, according to one operator, is to offer traditional social media tools that not only make the boards destinations for titillation, but also enable sharing on a broad scale.
Pinsex recently added Facebook-like widgets that do just that. The tools available on the site’s widgets page allow website owners and bloggers to embed buttons encouraging viewers to share the material.

The resulting pin includes a link back to the page on the original website. “Meanwhile, the Follow-Me button brings people together by giving any Pinsex visitor the power to invite other people to follow their Pinsex account.
Clicking a Follow-Me button opens the owner’s Pinsex page in a separate window, inviting the clicker to peruse the rest of the button owner’s collection.
“Building a big community around your site with Pinsex is fast, easy and free for forward-thinking content owners and webmaster marketers,” Matos said.
He also noted that, unlike Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other mainstream social media, Pinsex doesn’t forbid hardcore adult content.
Pinsex is free for all users; registration is quick and easy. Matos said that’s a deal, considering the site receives more than 400,000 content views daily.
