The adult entertainment industry has been one of the leading drivers of the online affiliate program concept since the early days of the internet. While the affiliate program model is widely used today (including by giants like Amazon, Wix and Expedia), its earliest use online often came from adult entertainment companies.
What is an adult affiliate program?
Adult affiliate programs are setup by adult entertainment companies that sell services or products online. The programs allow independent marketers (aka webmasters or affiliates) to promote these products or services in exchange for commissions. The programs provide a system for companies to track which affiliates are sending them leads or customers, and to pay sales commissions based on the results (and per predefined payout terms).
What kinds of verticals are available to adult affiliates?
There are a variety of verticals available for adult webmasters to promote. Examples of the more common adult verticals include live webcams, adult dating, adult paysites and adult retail products. The adult video game vertical is also on the rise.
For affiliates who aren’t sure which adult verticals they’d like to promote, there are CPA Networks that include a variety of different offers in one central program. Affiliates who join these CPA Networks can then promote any of these offers while monitoring sales and commissions from one app or website.
How do I earn payouts?
Each adult affiliate program will have one or several ways you can earn payouts for the traffic you send. Affiliates in adult are commonly paid a recurring percentage of all sales they generate, but some programs also offer one-time larger payouts based on completed sales. You also can find programs that pay for leads you generate, regardless of completed sales.
While per-click payouts were once common in adult, they’re generally vulnerable to fraud. For this reason, few adult affiliate programs offer a per-click commission structure anymore. The per-click model is still commonly used in ad networks, however.
