HILLSBOROUGH, NC – Forty-one percent of U.S. women own at least one sex toy, and an additional 4.5 percent say they own six or more.
That’s the insightful news from a survey of more than 1,000 American adults, conducted by an independent third-party research firm on behalf of adult retailer Adam & Eve.
The girls aren’t the only ones having fun. Though they trail the ladies by a significant margin, 31.7 percent of men who participated in the survey own at least one toy. Another 3.8 percent own six or more.
Adam & Eve’s resident sexpert is not impressed with the numbers.
“I would like to see these numbers much higher,” said Dr. Kat Van Kirk. “Adult toys can bring an added dimension of pleasure to both solo and couples’ play. A large part of a healthy sex life is learning what pleases us. For many adults, toys help us reach that goal faster, easier and better.”
