    Adult Virtual Convention....

I did some searching and it seems a lot of you guys and gals might not know about this, so I'll get this topic going....

ADULT VIRTUAL CONVENTION is taking place Feb 24th - Feb 26th (special Industry day is Friday the 24th) inside "Red Light Center" the MMORPG from Utherverse.

The 3 day event will feature parties, exhibit booths, porn star meet and greets, speaking panels and more!

Registration is 100% free if you just want to attend, network and check it all out AND if you want a booth there are still some available for $99 (Keep in mind the bulk of the show is geared toward B2C so you'd want to promote to surfers (but don't forget Friday is industry day!)

Myself, I have a booth in the "Green Hall" and I'm am also sponsoring the After Party on Sunday, as well one of the speaking panels,

I will also be on a speaking panel with Zak Zarry from Utherverse & Max Bapstist from Bonetown on Friday.

This also marks my very first convention in my 15 years in the biz (even though it's virtual it still counts right? :1orglaugh )

I think something like this is a TRUE no brainer and I encourage all of you to at least register to attend and see what it is all about, IF you want to pick up a booth, get in touch with me (AFTER you get setup with the convention people) and I might be able to help you build your booth (LIMITED NUMBER OF THIS AVAILABLE!!!!)

Also If you're going to do a booth and you want me to help build it make sure when you contact the convention people to register you let them know that "Loki3D" from LokiCash might be building your booth for you, so they can add me to your building/decorating permissions.

(I'm NOT being paid by anyone for this, I'm doing this to help out the event in the hopes that it is more successful!,

I feel that this type of venue with an ESTABLISHED Consumer base is not only a great cost effective way to get your brand out to new people, but with the growing popularity of these MMORPG'S you kind of SHOULD be looking into this in the first place!)

If you have any questions post them here, if I can't answer them I'll make sure to get one of the convention people in here to answer.

Seems like a great idea but poor execution IMO. I don't do the mmorpg stuff, I don't play second life, I don't want to walk around a virtual world as a cartoon character. I tried it, i was bored in 10 mins because i couldn't figure out how to make my guy fly or put his pants on or some shit. Sorry I don't have 10 mins in my day much less hours to play games, and if i did I wouldn't spend that time trying to figure out how to make my virtual me put his pants on, but any way.....

I think the "virtual convetion" is a great idea BUT if done like this:

    - Use goto meeting type camera software. Instead of a show room floor and booth, allow each company to have a page instead of a booth. The page would have all the information about their company, services, etc. A Video stream of their reps on it and voice / chat for people to join the room and talk to them. All guest would have to register and could enter the room with their cam on so others could see who they are talking to. Could do private chat for private conversations.

The semilars could be done the same way, have a panel of speakers all on their web cam, broadcasted on a page, stream it live. Registered guest log into the room, listen, post questiosn in chat, the guys on the panel answer the questions.

You never going to replace human interaction, and some people just simply like to travel and get away from home some times and a convention is a good excuse to do that. However, the biggest problems with shows today is that 99% of the people in the industry don't attend them. They either don't want to travel, spend the money, can't get away, too busy to take off 4,5,6,7 day etc. don't want to meet people in person, etc. For companies, it is very expensive to set up a booth, travel an entire staff etc.

If someone put on a virtual convention like I mentioned above and left it free for guest and charged a modest fee for "virtual booths" I'd bet the virtual convention the way I explained would produce 10x more attendence and the ROI would be 100x better for the companies that participated. The cost to be there would be fractions of what it would cost them to travel their staff and pay to set up a booth vs a small fee to set up their virtual booth, where their reps were on camera. There is a lot more you could do to, but i don't feel like writing a book.

Oh, before I forget, this convention is TRULY a VIRTUAL CONVENTION...

I've attended a few mainstream "virtual conventions" and it was really nothing more then moving my mouse around a flash "hall" and clicking on a booth to have a webpage launch explaining the product or service.

    THIS ONE HOWEVER....

YOU create your avatar, walk around the convention, sit down in chairs, meet actual people, chat with them via text or voice (VIP'S ONLY) Dance, eat, drink, drugs (yeah it's funny too lol)

So before anyone asks "How 'Virtual' is it" I figured I should should answer that off the bat lol.

If you've ever checked out World Of Warcraft, or Second Life, it's very similar to that, walk, talk, move around etc etc.

I think that platform is going to be the biggest down fall. Too much of like a game and not business. Too many people in our industry don't play these type of mmorpg games or are familar with them so they not going to bother with this. It doesn't interest me to check it out.

I agree also with your thoughts on how you have seen other people try to do this, a page of companies names and you click on one and it gives you information is lame as well. If i was going to a convention, or even virtual one, I would want to see the REAL people I am talking to via web cam conferencing, not talk to cartoon charaters in a virtual world. I would be there for business and to get the information i need and networking not role playing.

I have a long and short response to this Will, I also don't feel like writing a book though lol so I'll go with the short version

It doesn't matter if YOU don't like the MMORPG's the fact comes down to 'Your consumers DO' It's just like the toon niches to be honest you might not like it but your customers deff might....

I agree something like what you mentioned above would be great, but I also think that in the way Utherverconvention and Red Light Center are doing it will also work out great....

It's simply a venue thing at this point, RLC already has an active member base who will be attending (and know how to put their pants on lol) and those are all your potential customers for your brand, passing on an opportunity like this for the prices is just plain silly to me....

    I'll go a step further

I fucking LOATH stuff like WOW, I played for maybe a month and I was bored to death, spent hours just WALKING to find a NPC only to complete that task and be told "oh thanks no go take this back to my brother" and then I'm walking all over again.

Second Life also scares the ever loving shit out of me (I've watched the docu's lol) and because of that I also avoided RLC as well, BUT once I found out about the convention I signed up, logged in and I'm hooked! Right now I have a sex club in my world where people can come in and have sex with each other or any one of my sex bots, AND on the walls are nice clickable ads for my paysites and surfer sites (and even though I've not even launched the club I'm seeing some traffic and even a signup this evening)

It's deff time for people to take a closer look at these things, even if you don't think you'd like it, you might surprise yourself!

I hear ya Will, I really do.. BUT (always a but right lol) what you need to keep in mind is that the bulk of this convention is B2C so you're going there to showcase your brand to your potential consumers and THEY do like being a cartoon char and walking, dancing etc etc.

Friday is the industry day the rest of the show is biz to consumer based pretty much

If it is B2C and your marketing to the people who play those games, trying to sell them adult stuff then it makes perfect sense. If you trying to use it for B2B and you trying to get people from the adult industry to go play mmorpg to do "business" I think you will have a low turn out. For B2B it does matter what I think. For B2C, it doesn't matter what I think.

Your opinion, obviously, is very biased. You are creating "booths" and are involved with all the 3d stuff. I have no bias either way, other than not being interested in playing mmorpg.

sometimes it seems "biased" is my middle name lol, and for the record (not that it matters lol) I'm not being paid by anyone for creating the booths, and honestly I'd rather NOT be creating booths other then my own lol, but if getting a booth built would stop a potential webmaster / company from getting involved "at the last minute" per say I'm more then happy to build their booth for free. about the only thing I WON'T do to get someone involved is buy their booth for them lol.

It's just to me, I hear every year how the "real" conventions are getting more and more..... bleh and less and less people are going, something like this pops up and I personally think everyone would jump on board, and be excited about the possibility of a FREE convention they can attend from wherever they are at, no flights, gas money, hotels, over priced food etc etc.

And with this convention, the booth prices and the sponsor prices were VERY reasonable esp considering the venue has thousands of daily visitors (at any given time I've been inside Red Light Center the past few days, there's been at least a few thousand people logged in) and to me, that says, I will have the opportunity to present my brand to a high number of pre-qualified consumers for a lot less then I've spent on ads, traffic, marketing.

I could go on and on and on lol (I think we all know that though )

But I implore anyone reading this to at the very least register to attend the show, download the client and log in for a bit Friday the 24th, and then login a bit on the 25th, EVEN IF you're not a 'fan' of mmorpg's I think you will find this both an interesting and exciting event!

Good luck with it and I agree that I think a virtual, or "online" convetion would do well for reasons we both stated, I just don't think the mmorpg platform is right for it and will turn off a lot of people (for the B2B). Just my opinion, ive been wrong before. (more than once.)

I guess I can share my opinion on this. Was reluctant to share because the last thing I wanted to be was a buzz killer. You know, never down a persons dreams kind of thing. Been to Utherverse and have a few accounts and played around with the working model. Even downloaded a few open source projects on the technology end of VR Worlds. Got a couple of the projects to a working state and toyed with the ideas.

In the end, I determined that I wasn't that interested in the whole sector. I decided I could be excited in the future if some major break throughs come out. I like what is going on in the VR 3D gaming world but it's still in it's infant stage in my opinion. Some major steps forward are needed to bring about the kind of .. what the words.. serious taking doesn't quite fit.. But maybe professional respect outside of the genre does better service. If your into the whole sceen I can see some excitement in it. But for those who are not, well it kinda seems pointless since any business would surely involve an investment in the sector without actually caring about it. I see a timeline that is just beginning, and maybe never reaching the end. I mean, you know these real MMORPG's are 12 gigabites and more on a client. Utherverse is in a niche that some consumers love, but most business's are just not into quite yet, if ever. I certainly am not about to construct a virtual mass-dad anything until it does more than cost me money to maintain.. Honestly, in general, I don't see a VR anything making me money and I get the feeling that many outside the genre see it kinda the same way. With the exception of selling VR gaming that is. And even there, people are getting bored with the lack of progress in the technology.

My time in Utherverse found a group of people who where vain and not very nice to one another. It's a pecking order where having virtual sex, or the ability is not very important. Where people where referred to by their name color and weather or not they where what was it.. "greenies" if i remember correctly.. something like that.. Some of the bar room topics where just kinda childish dumb ass kinda stuff.. I recall one bar conversation where some 16 year old kid was whinning to her big sister and her husband about some trollip who was being mean to her because she ran out of subscription.. I'm just like really bitches.. this ruins your day? For real.. A group of people need to console you over this? WTF? Get a life girl.. Drama follows drama queens even in VR.. lol..

Anywhoot.. I'll be passing on the convention.. When they got something to convene about I'll go..

yes some people like it, but not ALL industry people are chatting about it, like it or will attend. I never said no one would like it. Sorry hate to argue with you, but pointing to an xbiz thread where 20 or so people are saying " cool " or "i'll be there" is no guage as a level of success.

I know i am pissing on your parade just for the simple fact that i am not into the mmorpg and don't think it would be a good platform for an online industry conference. When you subtract the surfers, the people curious to take a look, the people nominated or associated in some way, at the end of the day I doubt you will have more adult industry people then what attend a normal convention. Which online, you should have 100x more at least since it is free, and all they got to do is log in.

I am sure once it is over (not matter how it turns out) you going to come back here and tell us how tens of thousands of people registered and it was a huge success, blah blah blah.

    Update

The convention has been a huge success so far! We have already seen over 8000 people come through the virtual convention in the past 2 days. The speaking panels have been great and the awards show last night was amazing! Come check it out today if you haven't been in yet!

Well all due respect... since they were the top sponsor they will of course put themselves on a pedestal. But the event was great I will say that. I'm fine with the article being linked here for this purpose.
