YNOT – A new website has launched with the intention of returning legitimacy to what the owners see as an ocean of consumer mistrust aimed at sites that review digital adult content.
LiveReviews.com debuted in early 2010. According to Director of Public Relations James Lauren, the free-to-browse directory encompasses thousands of reviews accomplished by more than 50 adult performers who actually join the websites they evaluate. During sign-up, they capture a video preview of what consumers can expect to encounter as they pay and log-on for the first time. Lauren said the unusual video feature not only shines an objective light on the website but also is tremendously entertaining and educational for consumers.
“It’s no secret the online adult entertainment industry has been losing sales,” he said. “Many are quick to blame easy online access to free content, but another big contributing factor to the rapid decline in sales is that over the years many adult sites have engaged in extremely deceptive billing practices. Once a consumer has been cheated, it is unlikely they will ever join another site.”
Lauren said LiveReviews.com reviewers use a credit card set aside specifically for testing adult websites. This enables the reviewer to determine whether sites add hidden charges to the customer’s bill.
“As a rule, any review site that does not use real credit cards to test adult sites should not be trusted,” he opined.
LiveReviews.com also informs consumers about hidden check boxes that must be unchecked in order to avoid additional monthly charges. A unique email address is used for testing, allowing reviewers to evaluate whether the pay site floods members’ inboxes with spam or may be selling or renting their email addresses to other marketers.
In addition, Lauren said LiveReviews.com’s reviewers pay special attention to how “fresh” a website’s content is … or isn’t.
“Free content sites, in most cases, feature outdated content,” Lauren said. “When it comes to adult content, consumers demand new material. What’s more, visitors have become aware that free sites frequently install harmful viruses on their computers.”
LiveReviews.com attempts to warn consumers about which free sites may be better to avoid.
It’s worth noting that although Lauren condemned other review sites for a bias he perceives when review sites enter affiliate relationships with the sites they review, LiveReviews.com sends consumers to the sites it reviews through its own affiliate links.
However, Lauren said, LiveReviews.com does not intend to fall into that trap.
“Our goal is to bring back trust and confidence to an industry that can truly use a boost in sales right now,” he said.
