NEW YORK, NY -- You say “arousal,” I say “lawsuit.” Or such appears to be the case with a mysterious “Jane Doe” television host who claims that a satirical ad she was hired to model for turned out to be a pornographic misrepresentation.
According to paperwork submitted to the Manhattan Supreme Court by Doe, she agreed to perform in a comedic advertisement for Szul Jewelry while wearing one of their necklaces. No word on whether the strand was pearl or not.
Lawyer Kevin Mulhearn insists that Doe “was told it was going to be comedic, and it wound up being softcore porn instead.”
At issue is a segment of “Rock Her World” ad during which the 37-year-old actress writhes on a bed while wearing lingerie and jewelry.
The mystery performer, who is said to have “worked as a live on-air host for a national cable network program” since 2001, in addition to various modeling and acting jobs, answered a talent call searching for a man and a woman for a “Viral Web Spot” commercial. Apparently things were going along fine until she was asked by the director to “feign excitement while lying down.”
When the final product was released, Doe discovered that her “excitement” was filmed in such a way that the camera “focused without interruption on plaintiff, lying down and wearing a Szul necklace, appearing to have an orgasm or otherwise experiencing sexual pleasure,” according to the suit.
Doe is demanding $5 million for her embarrassment and damage to the “wholesome image” she had cultivated over the years. Further, she claims to have never signed a release authorizing the company to place the ad online.
The jaded may well wonder what the wholesomely married Doe thought the camera was seeing while she “feigned excitement while lying down.”
