LEBANON, TN -- There may well have been a time with now-ex Tennessee Highway Patrolman James Randy Moss supported the formation of grand juries and the handing down of their decisions. That time has likely passed, given that he has found himself on the business end of precisely such a decision.
Perhaps best known to the world now as the cop who wanted to be a porn star but settled for a blowjob from one, Moss’ unorthodox traffic stop ended his career behind the badge. As of yet, he has not approached Porn Valley for employment.
After 10 years on the Department of Safety, 40-year-old Moss negotiated a compromise with 21-year-old adult actress Barbie Cummings on May 7th, when she was speeding home after having visited an aunt in Lebanon, TN. Instead of being tough on Cummings, he is accused of tossing a bottle of prescription painkillers that the performer illegally had in her possession and then allowing her to perform oral sex on him before sending her on her way.
Moss turned himself over to the Middle Tennessee authorities early on the morning of Tuesday, October 16th and now faces sealed indictments related to official misconduct, official oppression, and tampering with evidence, all related to the wee hour pull over of Cummings pink Honda Accord.
If Cummings had chosen to keep her story quiet, Moss might still be a respected member of the force. Instead, Cummings, whose legal name is Justis Ellen Richert, chose to blog about the experience – including the fact Moss shot stills and video of their sexual encounter with his trusty, tax payer supported cell phone and police car camera. To make things even better for her fans, she posted content that she claims was created by Moss and sent to her later.
Once finished with his fun, the then-officer wrote Cummings a ticket for her 92 mph drive in a 70 mph zone and for doing so without proof of registration or insurance.
Moss was promptly suspended by the Tennessee Highway Patrol and later resigned. He now faces six charges of official misconduct, two counts of official repression, and another two counts of tampering with evidence. Not all charges relate to his special time with Cummings; instead, some concern a September 2006 traffic stop with another woman.
After Cummings told her story, other women spoke up about experiences that they claim to have had at Moss’ less-than-professional hands. According to prosecutors, some of the women insist that Moss asked to see their breasts upon pulling them over.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released a statement saying that “Moss is accused of stopping females for traffic violations where he would inappropriately approach them in a sexual nature. If they complied, he would lessen their punishments.”
Jack Lowery, Sr., attorney for Moss, says that his client intends to plead not guilty to all counts during next month’s Wilson County Circuit Court hearing. Moss, who allegedly has admitted to Lowery that “he made some judgment errors,” is free on $2,500 bail and working in construction.
