CYBERSPACE -- While The Simpsons Movie topped the weekend box office with over $71 million dollars taken in (cue Montgomery Burns-like hand writhing and chuckling), Twentieth Century Fox’s legal department fended off a cybersquatter.
Visitors to TheSimpsonsMovie.com -- the unofficial site squatted upon by Keith Mailey -- got an eyeful of the animated family in porno situations. He eventually demanded $50,000 for the domain name, which was later redirected to another adult site he owned.
Mailey was ordered by the World Intellectual Property Organization, a United Nations agency, to shut down the site and turn the domain over to Fox immediately.
D’oh, indeed.
