Today's WTF Moment of Scientific Research |
 |
 |
Okay now this is interesting....
www.msnbc.msn.com
Some of these things make sense, and some of them don't.
On the positive side, I don't watch a ton of TV myself. BUT... it didn't mention the Internet or video games!! lol

And reading articles written by the idiots that write for the web proves you're dead?
"every hour spent in front of the TV translated into an 11 percent increase in the risk of death from any cause, a 9 percent increase in the risk of death from cancer and an 18 percent increase in the risk of death from cardiovascular disease."
so in your tenth hour of TV watching you die from any cause.
it takes 12 hours of TV to die from cancer
6 hours of TV you die from heart disease!
How many hour of reading this idiot before you die from reading this idiot?

Haha, I don't think it was meant THAT way... I think the percentages were meant as INCREASES over the percentages of non-TV watchers. Still, I found this article to be EXTREMELY odd... it just didn't make sense in so many ways.

"I don't think it was meant THAT way..."
"I didn't know it was loaded" doesn't mean much to the guy dead on the floor from the bullet wound!
I don't know what was meant-but what was WRITTEN was
"every hour spent in front of the TV translated into an 11 percent increase in the risk of death from any cause, a 9 percent increase in the risk of death from cancer and an 18 percent increase in the risk of death from cardiovascular disease."
Even if the writer doesn't know how to write in English, I do know how to read English...
If you think about it-it's even stupider than I first wrote it was:
If you die after 6 hours from heart disease, how could they figure out you will die in 12 hours from cancer?

This one right here is why we're destined for decreasing quality of service as long as we allow local, smaller businesses to die in favor of large, multi-national corporations. They'll always look for ways to shave a little more, a little more, a little more, because it translates to a lot for them.
I've noticed that "Olive Garden" skimps on the olives too in their salads... lol

"I had a freakin pet rock!! "
When I first moved to Russia I started to produce the Pet Rock in Russian. Couldn't remember all the stupid tricks it could do. Do you still have the instructions? I think it's time to get back to that project...I'll bet an original pet rock is now worth a ton of money.

Just thought this was to good not to share it-in my search for a pet rock I came across this:
"Where to find a pet rock training?
where do you find the online pet rock training manual! don`t laugh at me and don`t tell me to make my own!!"
Answer
"There is no manual; you need to hire a professional rock trainer. They are relatively expensive, but you will see results effective immediately after the training process. Most will teach sit, fetch, roll over, and how to kill flies, but if you ask, they may also teach how to scan something on the computer."

Bill Gates' predecessor to MicroSoft (their original spelling) was Traf-o-Data.
And I never had a pet rock--couldn't afford one. I tried using an old brick, but the damn thing was so stupid it never learned anything (hence the phrase "thick as a brick").
