Porn Business Legal In Mexico? |
 |
 |
Does anyone know if it is legal to run a mail order adult DVD business from Mexico? This would be a U.S citizen living in Mexico taking online orders and shipping legal adult DVDs to the customers in the U.S. Following U.S laws of course.
Thanks for any input!

In Mexico prostitution is legal including child prostitution. Some area's have local regulations that prohibit the activity in some buildings but it's legal in the streets. Other cities have regulations that draw districts where all prostitution activity is to take place.
You can sell porn in Mexico so I don't see why you couldn't sell it by mail order or internet website. Heck a few years ago you could sell it in the streets.
Of course since it's a huge child porn industry there you may get lots of attention your way. They make kiddy porn and sell it for like $250 a DVD to American pedophiles. So you will want to be extra stringent on your compliance and be real sure that models are 18+.

Shooting adult videos with persons under the age of 18 is NOT legal in Mexico. It was legal to shoot with 16 year olds in some South American countries until about 6 or 7 years ago. There is now no country in the Americas where the minimum age is under 18.
I know of several Mexican adult production companies but I can't tell you any more. If you go to the Interpol website, they have a link that lists all laws relating to sex in every country in the world. They are always current and accurate. That would be a good place to start reading. Contact a Mexican lawyer to find out, find some Mexican porn sites and e mail them.
I can tell you that US Customs has the right to confiscate imported material believed to be obscene. If your material is confiscated then either the sender or the receiver must go to court to get it back.
The U S Postal service- has the right to prosecute you for using the US mail to ship obscene materials even if they were shipped from Mexico. DON'T EVER USE THE MAIL! If I remember correctly, under treaty the Mexican authorities will cooperate with the Postal authorities to assist in prosecution. Being in Mexico-if it is legal there to distribute-will help isolate you from the US in legal terms but it will not exempt you from U S law for anything that goes on in the states.
"legal adult DVDs to the customers in the U.S. Following U.S laws of course"
Unfortunately there is no such thing. There is known to be illegal DVDs and less likely to get you prosecuted DVDs. You need to study up on what to do to get off the "get you prosecuted" radar and stay off of it. Not using the mail is one of those things, staying away from non-plain vanilla adult material would be another. Not shipping to certain zip codes is a third. The list is long.
