Captcha |
 |
 |
Nothing I like more than filling out a webform, putting the captcha in the blank, pressing submit and then getting an error message that I put in the wrong info, so I hit the back button and my email is completely erased from the form.

"Nothing I like more than"
My fav is that warm fuzzy feeling I get when I realize what an idiot I am for retyping the letter I wrote 5 times before I get that the form just ain't gonna work...and you know damned well the "type the picture" code you put in was correct each time and stupid computer keeps getting it wrong!
"We don need no stinken badges!"
Why do they keep using those illiterate servers anyway? Can't they find servers that can read?

Captcha is a necessary evil. I especially hate the ones used in Craigslist and MySpace. So damn tedious. Sigh...

I hate the ones where I can't read it at all, the ones where they distort letters through each other an use a mix of fonts so a lowercase "L" could be a number "1".
I saw one a few days ago which put up random words in purple, blue, green and yellow (all overlapping) then failed to tell me which colour they were looking for.
Personally I prefer the ones which ask a simple question like "How many seasons are there?", "How many years in a decade?" etc. They make more sense anyway (at least until AI really takes off).

For real, robots have had work arounds for captcha for a few years now.
Everything gone? Didn't bother the set a hashed % session cookie. (Or, didn't know how ...)
