Saints!!! |
 |
 |
Don't know about the rest of you, but I really enjoyed that game yesterday.
That on-sides kick to start the second half had to be one of the most ballsy things I've ever seen in a Super Bowl. ALMOST didn't work too... so glad it did.
Not too sure The Who should still be performing though... lol... their lead singer looked like he needed an oxygen mask. He just doesn't have the pipes anymore. I enjoyed the show for nostalgic reasons, and suppose it beats today's "pop" stars, but... man, what a reminder of how old we all get so quickly.

I agree with you all the way Connor, a hellavu game, and the best team won. Time to load up the kids and head down to Nah'lyns for some catfish, reb beans & rice, and a hot bowl of gumbo...
Personally, I though they should've had some Nah'lyns groups performing at 1/2 time. Buckweat Zydeco, the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, etc take your pic... A little second line diddy was in order, next year look for Big Ben to be back..

I thought about that... and I'm sure they did too. My guess is that if they did it, it would seem like favoritism... and that would upset the Colts fans. lol

Don't really care about either team and only caught the 4th quarter but from what little I saw, the right team won.

You missed that seriously ballsy onside kick... loved it.
I'm not a Saints fan, but it was hard not to root for them... their history, the history of the city, etc., and Payton Manning just annoys me for some reason. lol

I think their prodigal son (the great Peyton), did a good enough job of that with his pick 6. A little Zydeco music couldn't have hurt...

You know, it probably IS the fact that they push him like he's superman... sports LOVE heroes, and it DOES work for marketing the game, as evidenced by the number of women I've been walking around lately with Manning branded jerseys on. Me, I tend to prefer whole teams in football to individual players.

Not to be pedantic, but how far in advance must they book the half-time entertainment?
As far as the Manning brothers, no matter what Peyton does, he will always be second to his brother, because Eli produced the "Perfect Season" a few years back.

We can't win all of them.. I'll take 3 for the decade.
And I have to admit to the warm fuzzy feeling I get watching Peyton lose.

1/ Tom Brady - 3 & 1 in SB
2/ Big Ben - 2 & 0 in SB
3/ Eli Manning 1 & 0 in SB
4/ The great Peyton 1 & 1 in SB
5/ Brad Johnson 1 & 0
6/ Trent Dilfer 1 & 0 in SB
The critieria behind this is that Brady, Ben and Eli were responsible for getting their respective teams the wins, Peyton was largely responsible for loosing last weeks game and not solely responsible for the win in 2006...
..just sayin' (go Stillers!)

No, no--I meant exactly what I said. Seeing Tom Brady, the Patriots, and especially Sweatshirt Belichick lose the Super Bowl after coming into it at 18-0 is the Perfect Ending to the Perfect Season in my book. And for that, I will always be grateful to Eli Manning and the New York Giants, one of the all-time great franchises in professional football.
And, as for your list of QB's, if you add them all up, I think you come up almost exactly with one Yelberton Abraham Tittle.

LOL, your infinite wisdom often eludes my limited attention span UG...
In that regard you're right, Eli did produce the perfect season, as well as keeping the sweatshirt coach from matching Chuck Noll's 4 ring accomplishment...

To be the best you have to beat the best..
Both Ton and Peyton have to go through Terry Bradshaw (four dingers) and then surpase Joe Montana (also four dingers) before you can lay any claim to greatness.
Tittle wasn't much.. a few division titles and no championships. Even had some trouble just keeping his starter job. Hell the guy only averaged 2000 passing yards a year. Good but hardly greatest. IMO..
